Kyle Allard, Fairmont Senior

Friday night at East West Stadium Polar Bear quarterback Kyle Allard wasted no time showing the Elkins Tigers that FSHS was indeed as explosive as advertised. On the first play from scrimmage Allard took the shotgun snap and froze the EHS safety with his eyes before firing a perfectly executed 53 yard strike on the post to wideout Joe Buonaiuto. The drive ended with West side on the Elkins 16-yard line when Allard rolled left and drew half the Tigers defense with him before calmly tossing a throwback screen to a wide open Jerry Kelly who waltzed untouched into the endzone to give the Bears a lead they would never relinquish.

That was Allard’s night - and his season - in microcosm. A little slight of hand combined with a lot of talent have made a mixture that few area defenses have had an answer for. Against Elkins, Allard connected on 16-of-25 attempts for a career-high 314 yards and three scoring strikes, one of which was an 18-yarder to Ben Kettering just before the half that capped a back breaking 98-yard drive. Allard’s watershed effort catapulted the FSHS signal caller past the 3,000 mark for career passing yardage and lifted him over the 1,500 yard plateau on the season with three games remaining. Allard added another 30 yards and a touchdown on the ground helping Fairmont Senior cruise to a 35-14 win and setting the stage for an arduous three game stretch to close out the year against Wheeling Park (5-2), Bridgeport (7-1) and East Fairmont (6-2).

For his outstanding performance in Fairmont Senior’s decisive win over the Elkins Tigers, Kyle Allard is THEGAMEBREAKER.NET’s Player of the Week for week eight, marking the second time this season that Allard has taken home the honor.
