Greg Reed - Doddridge County
Reed paced a Doddridge County rushing attack that racked up an amazing 378 yards against Gilmer County to help snap a Bulldogs’ losing streak that spanned a year. Reed occupied the tailback slot in the DCHS offense for the first time after being moved from the quarterback position in an effort to give him more carries. The switch paid off early and often for Doddridge as Reed ripped off 207 yards and three scores on only 14 rushes for an eye-popping per carry average of nearly 15 yards. Reed’s performance was high-lited by a 96 yard touchdown burst in the third quarter that saw him take the handoff and bounce it outside the tackle before turning on the jets and outrunning the entire Titan defense for six. The play brought the West Union faithful to their feet by helping Doddridge reclaim the lead and secure their first win since knocking off the same Gilmer County program a year ago.

Jordan Simon - Philip Barbour
The Colts’ multitalented sophomore wideout exploded in a 56-30 win at South Harrison Friday night, hitting paydirt four times in three different ways. Simon grabbed 3 Nick Stewart passes for a total of 92 yards and two scores, including a 65-yard effort that saw him snare a short throw and outrace the Hawk defense 65 yards for a touchdown that put Philip Barbour up 42-18. When South Harrison answered to close the gap to 42-24 Simon struck again, this time on special teams as he received the ensuing kickoff and shot through the SHHS defense for another Colts score that eliminated any remaining hope for a Hawks' comeback bid. The PBHS standout also added 19 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown on two carries.

Keith Currence - Tygarts Valley
In week three East Hardy dominated Pocahontas County en route to a shutout victory. Last Friday, Tygarts Valley’s Keith Currence served notice to the unbeaten Cougars’ defense that things wouldn’t be quite so easy with the Bulldogs in town. Despite their winless record, coach Russ Collett’s gritty TVHS crew played to the final whistle once again and nowhere was their determined effort more apparent than through the numbers posted by Currence on the night. Behind a solid effort by Nathan Yokum and the Bulldogs’ offensive line, Currence racked up 206 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns on 20 carries.

Anthony Spencer - Robert C. Byrd
Quick show of hands from those in attendance at RCB’s win over Elkins who found yourselves asking…“Who was that masked man?” The man in question was Byrd senior Anthony Spencer, an explosive playmaker who stepped out of obscurity and into the Eagles’ line-up to steal the show during a 38-8 victory. When his family returned to Harrison County after several years in California, Spencer transferred to Byrd from Vista del Lago High School in Moreno Valley. After logging the required number of practices, Spencer was finally ready for his debut with the Flying Eagles Friday night…and that spelled disaster for Elkins. Against the Tigers, Spencer racked up 77 yards from scrimmage and scored four touchdowns, including three on the ground and one on a 15-yard reception. The electrifying newcomer averaged 11 yards per touch offensively while defensively he added a key interception with a big return that set up an RCB score.

One of the state’s most explosive receivers continued his productive ways in Buckhannon-Upshur’s loss at Wheeling Park Friday night. Against the Patriots, Carrier hauled in 5 receptions for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding another 32 yards on the ground. For the year, the versatile Carrier has tallied 9 touchdowns and amassed more than 600 total yards from scrimmage while maintaining a per catch average of nearly 18 yards.
