Week Two's Most Sizzling Performances...

Levi Johnson - Morgantown
In the mist and rain of Pony Lewis Field Friday night Johnson pounded through a Brooke defense that in week one had held the high-powered John Marshall Monarchs offense to only 12 points. The Mohigans’ fullback racked up 146 yards on a career-high 17 carries and popped three key touchdowns. To round out his performance Johnson hauled in a 21-yard reception, finishing the night with 167 yards from scrimmage to help Morgantown right the ship one week after losing for the first time in three years.

Preston Musgrave - Notre Dame
After racking up more than 80 points en route to a 2-0 start it has quickly become apparent that there’s nothing lucky about the 2006 Irish - there’s only talent…and lots of it. The trigger man behind coach Sam Alvaro’s offensive circus continues to be junior signal caller Preston Musgrave. One week after garnering THEGAMEBREAKER.NET Player of the Week honors, Musgrave followed up with a 283-yard passing performance against Valley Wetzel. Musgrave fired three touchdown passes and ran for another in guiding the Irish to a 35-8 runaway victory over the Lumberjacks.

Carter DeVault - East Fairmont
Carter DeVault continues to excel after assuming the reigns of the Bees offense from 2005 standout Adam Leonard. Though we’re not ready just yet to compare the seamless transition under center at East side to Steve Young taking over for Joe Montana in San Fran, that may not be much of a stretch. In two games DeVault has the Bees off to a 2-0 start. Friday night the junior signal caller made himself the talk of the town as he threw for 156 yards and all three EFHS touchdowns and racked up another 129 yards on the ground to help guide the Bees to their first win over NCAC rival University since the early months of the Clinton administration.

Aaron Echard - Bridgeport
One week after watching Indians’ standout Aaron Echard open the season with a three-touchdown performance against Tyler Consolidated, the Bridgeport faithful wondered what they could expect for an encore. Echard didn’t disappoint. In large part due to the powerful running of Echard, what appeared to be one of week two’s most appealing match-ups turned out to be anything but. Echard pounded his way to more than 170 yards on the ground – the third 100 yard performance of his career - and a pair of key scores to lead the Indians to a decisive 31-0 win over Preston Monday afternoon in Kingwood.

R.J. Beach - Clay-Battelle
R.J. Beach certainly knows a thing or two about first impressions. A year ago on opening night the Clay-Battelle standout burst onto the local high school scene with 276-yards and five touchdowns in a performance that not only earned him state player of the week honors, but also landed him the first ever Player of the Week award presented by The Gamebreaker. Last Friday in the Cee-Bees’ 2006 opener, the Clay-Battelle junior busted loose once again – this time for 144 yards and touchdown jaunts of 40, 5 and 37 yards to help guide CBHS to a decisive 41-6 win over Hundred.
